ANJA MICAKOVIĆ - A PSYCHOLOGY FRESHMAN MOVING TO ITALY

When Anja came to our first class, she seemed a bit terrified of speaking English. Her group was loud and talkative, while she, on the other hand, seemed shy, discouraged to speak up and barely constructed simple sentences. After several months of regular attendance, there was a moment of enlightenment for her - she became relaxed, confident and speaking in English became natural to her. I can remember the exact class when I, as her teacher, asked her what had actually happened. She told me she had actually overcome the fear of speaking English and made a habit of it. I couldn't be more proud to hear from her lately - she is preparing to move to Padua, Italy in order to study psychology in English :)

V: How are you today, Anja?

Anja: I am actually feeling a lot better than I have been lately, thank you for asking. (Anja has recently had an ankle surgery)

V: Long time no see...what have you been doing these days?

Anja: I have been studying paperwork for Uni, as well as preparing myself for this next chapter in my life.

V: When did you start attending our classes in Virginia Centre and how long did it last?

Anja: I started attending classes when I was 12, which equates to 6th grade, and it lasted until I was 14, which equates to 8th grade.

V: What was your personal experience with our school?

Anja: Personally, I loved the classes, they were one of my favourite things during the week, there was a lot of fun, captivating games, as well as interesting ways of learning and associating lessons with every day life.

V: What activities did you prefer?

Anja: I loved the game called 'Apples to apples'. It was unforgettably hilarious :)

V: What activities seemed more useful than others?

Anja: There was a kind of a game where the teacher would throw a paper ball at us to while asking us a question, which resulted in us needing to answer in a matter of seconds. That helped with speech agility and quick thinking.

V: In what way have our classes helped you till this day?

Anja: I have acquired a C1 level of English language, which helped me to get into my desired University, and in day to day education, communication, travels, business deals, and social networking.

V: To whom would you recommend our courses?

Anja: To everyone. Anyone who asked me about my language skills, I told them that I studied in Virginia Centre and explained how much they helped me.

V: Is there anything you want to add?

Anja: I want to say thank you for teaching us, and for opening the doors for us anywhere in the world. All of us will forever be thankful. Also I want to ask: how are you? How have things been going?

V: I am in a working mode these days. I am exquisitely proud to hear that you will be studying at one of the most prestigious European universities. And just like I opened the doors to the world to you, like you have said, I am trying to open 'all other doors in a digital world'. You never stop learning, even if you are a teacher :) Wish you to experience Italy in all its charm, have a nice time there and buon viaggio!
